Hello, I am Sofia
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Valencia, Spain.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn't part of our long-range plan. As with many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks felt more complicated than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and started building something that felt steady.
Why I Built VelvetMeadowCo
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Spain.
What This Site Does (And Doesn't)
This site is:
- Practical knowledge from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site isn’t:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Spain goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I will continue recording our discoveries.
If you have questions about family life in Valencia or anywhere in Spain, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sofia
